The International Biennial of Graphic Design in Brno, one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the field of visual communication in the world, was launched in 1963. Since 1964 it has been held every second year in all the exhibition spaces of the Moravian Gallery in Brno. The three main areas of this year’s 25th Brno Biennial are constituted by an international competition in the halls of the Museum of Applied Arts, an exhibition of visiting curators from the Dutch Experimental Jetset studio in the Pražák Palace and an international symposium in the Reduta Theatre. The programme of the Biennial will also encompass a host of accompanying exhibitions, cultural performances and associated events.Over five decades the Brno Biennial has built an important international platform in Central Europe for discussions on the current status and the developments in graphic design and its importance for creating contemporary visual culture.
The Brno Biennial is organized by the Moravian Gallery in Brno and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. The event is supported by the South Moravia Region, the City of Brno and the Czech Centres.
