The Emblem Hotel and the curatorial collective Are are working together in a partnership that functions as an exchange of services and knowledge, and is based on philanthropic support of the art community and its necessity for communication within the international context. International artists and curators invited to Prague as part of Are’s program are guests of The Emblem Hotel. Visiting artists who wish to return to Prague in the future are given the option to donate an artwork to the hotel for its emerging Contemporary Art Collection in exchange for complimentary accommodation. What makes The Emblem’s international collection relevant over a period of time is the “imprint” of the guest artists, collaborations, and events documenting part of the art history of Prague.

The collection of works by Czech artists – The Emblem Displays – focuses on the younger generation. The Emblem Displays are comprised of a curated series of works exhibited in the hotel that are present for two to three months at a time. Artworks are present in private guest rooms and the living spaces open to public for artist talks and presentations related to each display as well as The Emblem’s program of events.

The Library, which is located in the hotel’s Maharal Club, offers a rich source of information about Czech contemporary art, art history and architecture. The books in the library have been generously donated by artists, Czech art institutions and publishing houses located in Prague, Brno and Ostrava.

Those who wish to visit The Emblem during the hours it is open to the public (Wednesdays, 10am – 8pm) are welcome to view the artworks throughout the public spaces, and the library.
