The exhibition principally focuses on lesser known
or virtually unknown masterworks of Venetian
painting from the collections of Moravian, mostly
chateau, collections within a chronological
boundary from the mid-16th to the end of the 18th
century. There are, however, not only paintings
by Venetian artists on show as the scope of
interest includes noteworthy painterly works by
foreigners who briefly visited Venice or stayed for
an extended, even life-long, sojourn there.
The exhibits will lead the visitors into the strange,
esoteric isolation of Venetian culture and the broad
scope of painterly styles and manners, as well
as the Venetian intellectual movements that lay
behind the origin of many paintings.
