Bastl

Bastl is all about people doing all sorts of cool stuff together. Bastl instruments (est.2013) is a company with a main focus on development and production of electronic musical instruments – from portable sound boxes, studio instruments or utilities to fully featured modular synthesizer systems. We do all sorts of community projects, such as organizing music related events, coffee roasting, record label, educational content, workshops or even a clothing production. We are based in Brno, Czech republic.
 
In 2011, bandmates and artists Václav Peloušek and Ondřej Merta started a project called Standuino which was meant to give tribute to the D.I.Y.ers (Bastlíři) of the former Czechoslovakia, namely Standa Filip. Thru workshops and various art exhibitions, several instruments were developed, such as the microGranny 1.0 or fraAngelico.
 
In 2013 we transformed into Bastl Instruments to become a company dedicated to building musical instruments and the Trinity line of instruments was introduced. We started collab with Anymade Studio on the visual identity of Bastl.
 
In 2014 our first hit instruments microGranny 2.0 was announced and we meet with local musicians who helped us to produce them which started the growth of the company. Thanks to such ecosystem of creative individuals we transformed into sort of community that pursues several music related and unrelated projects.
 
In 2015 we opened a synth store noise.kitchen and the product line of unique wooden Eurorack modules was revealed and has grown and transformed since then.
 
In 2016 we joined forces with Casper Electronics and we gave life to the bitRanger, the softPop and opened a synth store in Brooklyn called Detective Squad. This collaboration sparked the ideas of development of the Kastle and the Dude.
 
The Thyme was finally finished in 2018, after 3 and half years in development, and there are much more exciting things to come!
 
In the meantime a lot of other exciting stuff happened as well.
