Galerie 4 / Cheb
Gallery 4 invites you to the opening of an exhibition showcasing three distinctive photographic journeys of one family—the married couple Jiří and Jiřina Hanke and their son Michael Hanke.
Jiří Hanke (*1944) has long captured time, the transformations of people and their surroundings—especially his native Kladno—in his work. Among other works, the exhibition will feature photographs from the series Kladno, Imprints of a Generation, TV Image, Under Our Apple Tree, My Still Life and Tulips and Others…
Jiřina Hankeová (*1948) seeks photographic motifs in everyday life and in the intimate space of her own life. Her work explores themes of fragility, silence, transformation, and inner experience. Represented are, for example, the series Nonverbal Communication, RGB-Y, Shadows, Eve’s Apple, Silence, and White. The series Out of Context will premiere at G4.
Michael Hanke (*1972) focuses on humanistic documentary photography. In his photographs, he seeks joy, hope, human strength, and moments we should not overlook. His photographs have won numerous prestigious awards, including World Press Photo, Czech Press Photo, and the Sony World Photography Awards. The exhibition brings together photographs from the series Senior Dance Parties, Ball Season, and Funeral Service—as a depiction of the eternal cycle of life.
At 7:00 PM there will be a screening of the film Jiří Hanke: Through the Lens of Kladno.
