Barbora Chlastáková presents a musical-dramatic performance about the lives of well-known and lesser-known figures of the 20th century. Their portraits are connected by a linear drawing on the gallery wall, which unfolds the stories behind each face. An original musical composition by Tomáš Braun and Johana Litošová transports the viewer into the inner feelings of these figures and the era in which they lived.

Paintings, drawings, and music draw us into dramatic lives marked by the cruelty of regimes and the fear that permeated everyday life. Merely viewing the works turns into participation: you become a co-protagonist in a story whose echoes resonate all the way to the present. Does history have any meaning if we do not learn from it?

The artist soon developed a distinctive style characterized by a combination of figurative and abstract elements, underscored by bold, often expressive colors. Bára’s paintings radiate a sensuality that we perceive even before we fully decipher their content.

Barbora Chlastáková graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, where she studied in the Painting Studio 2 (2006–2011, Martin Mainer; 2011–2012, Luděk Rathouský). She participated in a study program at the Facultad Bellas Artes de Cuenca in Spain. As part of an artist residency in the Khasi Hills, she also spent time in Meghalava in northwestern India. Since 2007, she has exhibited regularly in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since starting a family, she has lived and worked in the Šumava region, where she also opened Ateliér Říhov, an art school open to the public.
