Ilona Koroman – Silence in the Room
Who are the women in Ilona Koroman’s paintings? What are their intentions, what have they experienced, what are their fates? Are they variations of the artist’s ego? Are they apparitions from other worlds? Neither we nor the artist know. What are we to make of this? We don’t know.
The artist belongs to a rising generation of female painters who, through everyday situations, seek space for storytelling, intimacy, and fleeting moments of uncertainty. Her work draws on observations of everyday life, memories, and environments that we know intimately but often overlook.
Ilona Koroman (*1998) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2025; during her studies, she also spent time at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara, Italy. She has exhibited her work at venues such as the HIDDEN Gallery and the BOLD Gallery, where she held a solo exhibition in early 2026. She lives and works in Prague.
