Imaginárium is a living exhibition that invites children and adults alike on a journey into a unique world of fantasy, creativity, and playfulness. This expansive installation transforms the venue into a magical labyrinth full of nooks and crannies, stories, and surprises. Here, magical decorations, shadow puppets, a painted circus ring, a self-service marionette theater, carved animals, the sea, and a flock of sheep all come to life. You’ll encounter circus scenes you can step into, moving posters, and a giant sailor’s memory game. You’ll also enter the mysterious world of mythology. Every object invites you to play, explore, and interact thoughtfully.

You don’t need instructions to play. I believe that people have a sense of sensitivity and balance within themselves; they’ll understand what they can handle and how. Where a light touch is appropriate, where to enter a fairy-tale labyrinth with just a glance, and where to demonstrate dexterity and become a co-creator of their own experience,” says Matěj Forman, the exhibition’s initiator and coordinator, regarding the fragility and vulnerability of the exhibits, objects, and games that the Imaginarium’s creators offer visitors to interact with. At the same time, however, in an effort to encourage both children and adult visitors to the installation to embrace playfulness, curiosity, and the freedom to discover the beauty and art hidden in every corner of Imaginárium, he adds: “Human hands can work miracles, and imagination is endless.

Imaginárium offers shared experiences across generations. Parents and children discover together the magic of mechanical boxes called “hybohledy” or let themselves be drawn into the fantasy world of original films, photographs, wood carvings, woodcuts, and paintings. It is a tribute to human imagination, craftsmanship, and the art of puppetry. A diverse group of visual artists and theater professionals contributed to its creation.
