1939–2021: Konec černobílé doby
26. 05. 2023 - 30. 06. 2030
Národní galerie Praha, Veletržní palác / Praha 7
The exhibition presents the work of Jan Rousek, a director and artist who has long been exploring the theme of colonialism in Czechoslovak film history.
Through films, archival materials, and a gallery installation, it raises questions about how perceptions of Africa and its people were shaped within Czech visual culture and how colonial modes of representation continue to influence the present. The exhibition combines artistic research with a critical reinterpretation of film and photographic archives. On September 11 at 6:00 p.m., Jan will give a lecture examining Czechoslovak cinema from a decolonial perspective.
