Jiří Hanke is one of the leading figures in Czech documentary photography. His body of work, however, extends far beyond photography itself. The artist talk Má poklona will showcase Hanke’s work from a period he himself describes as “pre-photographic.”

The event will be accompanied by a presentation of the book of the same name, Má poklona, published in 2026. The publication reveals a previously lesser-known aspect of the author’s work and showcases his creative exploration during a time when his distinctive artistic expression was just taking shape.

The book includes collages from 1968–1975, song lyrics from his folk period (1969–1974), and distinctive poetry composed of texts from daily newspapers, which Jiří Hanke created between 1973 and 2001.

The author’s evening will feature a meeting with Jiří Hanke, a presentation of the book, and an opportunity to explore his early work, which has thus far remained somewhat overlooked.
