Katarzyna Tretyn combines themes of astronomy and cosmology with installation, objects, and light in her work. She transforms the space of Galerie Půda using stretched fibers and light structures whose appearance changes depending on the visitor’s movement and perspective.
The exhibition’s title refers to the principle of parallax—the apparent change in an object’s position depending on the vantage point from which it is observed. In Katarzyna Tretyn’s installation, this astronomical principle becomes a means of reflecting on perspective, movement, and the very process of observation.
Katarzyna Tretyn is a visual artist with an experimental and research-based approach. In her work, she translates themes from astronomy and cosmology into the language of painting, objects, and installations. She works primarily with thread and light, using them to create structures that evoke scientific models, geometric systems, and cosmic trajectories. An important part of her work is the specific location and its context. For example, her projects have been created in the landscape of Chile’s Atacama Desert, which is used as a site for analog research on the Martian environment.
