The project by Kateřina Šedá Nedá se svítit, part of which is presented at the exhibition The Last One Goes Out, is based on the situation of the village of Nosovice, which was significantly transformed by the construction of the Hyundai Motor Company complex. It has disrupted the original landscape and neighbourhood ties, divided the village and deepened the isolation of its inhabitants. Šedá entered Nosovice in 2008 and instead of looking for the culprit, focused on restoring people's relationship to the place. In collaboration with locals, over the course of ten years she created a motif inspired by the "hole in the middle of the landscape", which she applied to everyday objects – a metaphor for the loss of the landscape and the transformation of values passed down between generations. The project sensitively combines social intervention, participation and critical reflection on the transformation of the countryside. The opening of the exhibition will also include a discussion with the artist on 14 May at 18:00 in the S3G space at Mírové náměstí 184.
