SUMMER WITH CZECH FILMS UNDER THE OPEN SKY

Every Wednesday from July 29 through August 26, the piazzetta at Centrum Bořislavka will transform into a venue for open-air movie experiences. Artium by KKCG , in collaboration with OC Bořislavka , will offer a series of Czech films this year that are simply a must for summer—from beloved classics to legendary adventures to the latest movie releases. We selected the films for this year’s program in collaboration with Aerokina .

We’ll kick off this year’s series with one of the most beloved Czech comedy films, Alone in the Woods , directed by Jiří Menzel. With this screening, we’ll also pay tribute to Zdeněk Svěrák on his anniversary. This 1976 film, based on a screenplay by Zdeněk Svěrák and Ladislav Smoljak, is one of the timeless classics of Czech cinema and continues to entertain audiences today with its gentle humor, unforgettable characters, and perfectly observed situations.

The Lavička family longs to escape the city and buy their own cottage in the countryside. However, their dream location is inhabited by the eccentric Grandpa Komárek, who, despite an initial agreement, has absolutely no intention of leaving. The encounter between this city family and the distinctive rural world sets off a series of humorous and touching situations, telling a story of the longing for peace, the clash of different lifestyles, and unexpected human connections.
