The glass sculptures of Philip Frank are notable for their considerable craftsmanship. In his works, Frank combines a variety of techniques as well as seemingly disparate materials, continually expanding the horizons of glass art in all of its many forms. Frank, who is also the long-serving head of the Prague UMPRUM art school’s laser workshop, focuses on blurring the lines between the functionality of design and the aesthetic values inherent in the fine arts. His works offer a visual sensibility inspired by both amorphous natural forms and also harsh technical angles and futuristic visions evocative of famous designer H. R. Giger. Works by Philip Frank are currently on display at Galerie Kuzebauch. Among these are coal and black pastel sketches that underscore a less apparent side of the artist’s output. Such sketches can be viewed either as works unto themselves, or as studies, which document the choreography of the movement of materials, and which map the process of creation of Frank’s art installations.

The exhibition will be on display until June 11 2026.
