Potvora artpark is a one-day event aiming to introduce the general public to the work of artists – established professionals, students and amateur enthusiasts of the Liberec Region – at least partially, to the extent that a one-day event allows. Not only with the results of their work, but also with the process of creation and with their thinking about the work and art on a general and personal level.

It takes its inspiration from the Artpark project, which was founded in 1973 in the USA in the city of Lewiston and is still going on today, albeit in a rather modified form. There are many factors that prevent the full translation of this idea, so we have to talk about the very loose inspiration that is the idea of bringing art to a broader group of people. To give the figure of art a more contrasting background.

The event takes place 27 June 2026 in the garden of the Volt Brewery as an exhibition, theatre, film and music performances, art activities and debates on the meaning and direction of art. Both artists and garden visitors are active participants. It is the lively and direct dialogue between the artists and the essentially "accidental" visitors to the festival that is its main idea.

The space of the garden gives a unique opportunity to meet even visitors who, for various reasons, do not visit the exhibition spaces. Visitors come without expectations and thus there is no moment of disappointment. In such a moment, they accept the exhibited art with more openness.

We do not focus on one type of art, we present visual art with everything that belongs to this category: classical and contemporary visual means. Painting, sculpture, readymade, video art, photography, design, theatre, performance,  literature. We have not yet included, for technological reasons, game design.

The artists themselves choose which medium they want to use, which is closest to them and which they will present to the visitors. The Potvora Artpark does not restrict artists thematically either. Their only obligation is to share their ideas with visitors, to explain to them why the work is what they see. Both parties, the creator and the viewer, will try to find mutual understanding. The artist verifies that his work is as he intended it to be, he learns how the viewer perceives it, and the viewer has a chance to understand the work better while gaining insight into the process of creation.

Mutual understanding between artist and visitor is the main goal of Potvora Artpark, but it is enough for everyone to feel comfortable and satisfied after the event.
