"Are we there yet?" is a ubiquitous childhood question that requires not a precise answer, but reassurance that the journey has a purpose and that there is a destination. It recurs constantly in parenting, even when it is no longer spoken aloud. It moves from space to time and changes the addressee: will we be there yet as parents? Will we become the calm, composed and "finished" adults we once imagined parents to be? At the same time, this question opens towards society - as a hope that the environment in which parenting simply happens will also mature. That society "will have matured" enough to allow for safe, dignified, and legally recognized parenting outside the norm of the traditional nuclear family: adoptive and foster parents, queer couples, shared or community forms of care. "There" is not understood as a specific place or state, but a horizon that shifts with each step.

The group exhibition explores parenting in its many forms. It looks at how it has changed over the last decade in the context of wider social change, and how these changes have translated into artistic reflection on a subject that has long been marginalised, and is now opening up to men, queer parents and carers from non-traditional positions. The works on display capture the joys and exhaustion, the transformation of identity, the re-evaluation and rediscovery of family patterns in a Czech and Slovak context shaped by specific political, cultural and economic conditions. We understand the exhibition not only as an open space for a new visual experience, but also as a place for stopping, sharing and dialogue.
