The exhibition Seeping into the Darkness opens up a nonlinear, cyclical journey through both internal and external spaces. It begins in a dark field of black, red, white, and gray, which forms the basis of five acrylic paintings—multilayered spaces immersed in darkness. From their static, concentrated energy, the exhibition gradually unfolds toward installations, video, and sound.

The exhibition is conceived as a movement between two phases that are not, however, opposites. Yellow and blue gradually begin to seep into the dark layer: light does not arrive as a sudden break or as a form of definitive liberation, but as a gradual process of discovery through the human mind and soul. It permeates the darkness, transforms its surface, and leaves a trace within it. Both layers thus remain simultaneously present.

The same principle is also reflected in the material composition of the installations. The use of empty frames raises the question of an image defined not only by what it contains but also by the space it leaves empty. Six smaller acrylic installation objects on a yellow background trace the transitions between black, red, brown, green, blue, and white. The transformation of colors here is not merely a visual phenomenon. It becomes a trace of an inner journey and meditation, evoking the fluid flow of a river and the rhythm of rowing.

The audiovisual works extend this movement into the temporal dimension. Field recordings and visual-sound poetry—already present in Tokman’s previous works Prague Sounds and Otobus Sounds—translate the experience of a specific environment into sequences of signs, rhythms, and soundtracks. The exhibition creates a space in which disintegration and renewal, darkness and light, concentration and dispersion become part of a single, continuous movement. They describe a process that does not rush toward completion but returns transformed.
