Gallery 4 invites you to the exhibition In the City, which will showcase the work of the German photography club Die Fränkischen Lichtmaler (The Franconian Light Painters).

The Die Fränkischen Lichtmaler photography club was founded in 2015 out of the photography workshops of the Hof Art Association. Over the course of its ten-year existence, it has built a reputation as an active creative group that brings together photographers interested in the diverse forms of the photographic medium—ranging from technically precise work to experimental approaches and artistically ambitious projects.

The group’s name refers to the original meaning of the word “photography”—“painting with light.” It is precisely light, creativity, and a willingness to push the established boundaries of photography that unite its members. In their work, they utilize a wide range of photographic techniques and methods and view photography primarily as a means of personal and artistic expression.

Club members meet regularly to share experiences and develop their photographic skills together. Through their work, they aim to inspire others to discover the creative possibilities of photography and encourage them to experiment beyond the automatic settings of modern digital technologies. An important part of their activities is also presenting their photographic work to the public, not only in the Franconian region but also abroad.

The exhibition at Gallery 4 offers a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the work of contemporary German photographers and to view the city through a variety of artistic perspectives.
