In 2026, PLATO will once again host an exhibition featuring the winners of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. The jury for the 37th edition honored two artists and one art collective: Yuliya Bokhan, Tereza Kalousová, and Kolektiv Prádelna.
This prestigious award is intended for emerging visual artists who live or work in the Czech Republic and whose artistic work is considered exceptional by an international jury.
The work by Yuliya Bokhan, in the words of the jury, offers powerful insights into existential themes such as social alienation and anxiety, while her works retain the charm of the unsaid and evocatively weave together references from the entire history of painting.
In the case of Tereza Kalousová, the jury highlighted how she ingeniously combines object-based art, architectural thinking, and video installations in her work. The central motif of her work is deformation—of the body, the perception of time, and movement in a post-internet reality.
The jury recognized the long-term and consistent work of Kolektiv Prádelna in the field of socially engaged themes—their work addresses experiences of exclusion, marginalization, and poverty through a unique artistic expression.
