Galerie Sýpka will present Michaela Černická's exhibition Edges of Presence, which presents work focused on process, trace and time as fundamental levels of human experience. In her drawings, paintings, objects, photographs, and videos, the artist works with the subtle visuality of the hidden and gradually revealed - that which appears subtly, in the interruptions, in the in-between space, and in the silent transformations of reality.

Her works thematize the passage of time, the mutability of phenomena, and the layering of traces that are stored in the memory of space and people. The exhibition creates an environment in which the viewer becomes part of the process of observation - witnessing the subtle relationships between the material and the immaterial, the visible and the hidden.

Michaela Černický's work is characterized by a "diaphanous" structure – translucency, transparency and layering. Drawing here functions as a palimpsest of memory and time, the frame of the painting as a symbolic window into a temporal pocket, in which dwells that which has been removed from the ordinary perception of the passage of time. The works are often variable and respond to space, light and the viewer's movement. Working with interstitial space, light and shadow allows the very process of transformation and the passage of time to be visualized.

The work grows out of the experience of restoration and the personal experience of "interrupted time" that have shaped her sensitivity to material, process and trace. The artist walks the line between observation and creation - she is both creator and witness to the events unfolding before her. The exhibition does not work with narrative in the classical sense, but with a silent, systematic transformation in which the process itself becomes visible.

"Michaela Černická's work is a sensitive visualization of time, its elusiveness and hidden presence in the everyday. She works with what appears only at the edges of perception - the subtle shifts, traces and transformations that shape our experience of being.
Petr Vaňous, curator of the exhibition
