Oksana Sadovenko is a Ukrainian artist who has been living in Bratislava since 2022. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Her work focuses on painting and objects, and she has long explored the motif of pigeons through an expressive approach and experimentation with materials. She has presented her solo projects at venues including the Pragovka Gallery, the Blansko City Gallery, and the Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava.
Her work encompasses painting, objects, and installations. Through recurring motifs, such as the pigeon, she reflects on migration, resilience, and the fragile intersections of memory, identity, and survival. For Galerii Sýpka, she is preparing a new site-specific project that uses excerpts from books on nature, birds, pigeons, and other creatures to create an ephemeral layering of thoughts and dreams. In this way, she further explores the theme of comparing humans and the “non-human other” and highlights the absurdity of an anthropocentric view of the world.
