Dělnická 264, 473 01 Nový Bor

For just two days, an industrial space in Nový Bor that is normally closed to the public will be open to the public. As part of Crystal Valley Weekend, glass and intermedia artist Pavlína Šváchová will present her dissertation exhibition Bod 0 —an exhibition project based on large-format glass installations, spatial drawing, and work with light and space.
Šváchová will present a series of large-format spatial installations, most of which combine flat and shaped glass with glass tubes or rods. The artist conceives these as spatial drawings—lines that break free from the paper and become physical elements in space. Light, transparency, and the work’s relationship to the surrounding architecture also play a significant role. The exhibition offers a visual and spatial experience.
The exhibition Bod 0 is the practical culmination of several years of artistic research by Pavlína Šváchová at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava on the topic Lamp Glass as a Medium: From Figurine to Self-Definition of the Material, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Patrik Ill, M.A. The research focuses on the linear potential of lampwork glass and the possibilities of working with a glass rod as a line in space. The artist draws on traditional lampwork techniques, shifting her focus from small figurative objects to abstract spatial creations. When shaped over a burner, the glass rod becomes a line created through movement, gesture, gravity, and the very process of working with the material. The result is spatial compositions that straddle the boundary between drawing, object, and architecture.
Bod 0 offers visitors not only a glimpse into contemporary glass art but also the opportunity to explore an exceptional industrial space that is not normally open to the public. Admission to the opening reception and the entire exhibition is free.
