The exhibition Transient Lands brings together the sculptural and painterly works of Rado Hrcka, inviting viewers to perceive light not merely as illumination, but as a tangible presence that defines and transforms space.

Through a monochromatic approach, the artist goes beyond mere aesthetics, presenting profound connections between light, shadow, and human experience. “Monochromatic palettes are a powerful tool. By eliminating the distracting influence of color, they allow for a deeper focus on contrast and form, revealing subtle dimensions within the landscape of pure light and shadow.

By contrasting lines of varying thickness and length with more prominent forms, Hrcka allows the negative space to “breathe,” enhancing the overall composition. “Shadows go beyond being merely the absence of light; they become meaningful reflections of intimate thoughts and emotions. They can symbolize the darker influences that penetrate consciousness from the external world, revealing hidden complexity. This invites reflection on our own inner shadows, including secret fears and desires.” In his sculptural objects, he works with an architectural conception of light, shadow, and space, into which he projects principles of music theory.
