Restored works on paper from the GASK collection

An important and vital part of working with collection items is looking after the artworks’ physical well-being, which includes conservation and restoration work. Thorough and comprehensive study can also reveal new information about the works. On the basis of selected works from GASK’s collection of drawings and paintings, the exhibition shows the graduation work of several students from the bachelor’s and master’s programmes at the Studio of Restoration and Conservation of Artworks on Paper, one of four studios at the Faculty of Restoration in Litomyšl, which has been a part of the University of Pardubice since 2005. The exhibited works include pastels by Bohumil Kubišta, Otto Gutfreund and Jan Bauch, and oil paintings on cardboard by Josef Navrátil and Julius Mařák.The project is supported by a grant from the Czech Ministry of Culture’s Integrated System for the Preservation of Movable Cultural Heritage.
