Blank State is an ongoing series of film installations examining the worldmaking practices of underground communities against the backdrop of industrial development projects in Eastern Europe.

Through the video series LAIR (2022), Nesting (2024) and Rumble (2025), the project navigates the intersection of squatter communities, mythopoesis and collective imagination: inhabiting abandoned biodomes, EV battery factories and lithium mines as stages for alternative realities. Blank State asks how communities forge shared worlds amid political spectacle and geopolitical rupture. The gallery space creates an environment reconstructing these worlds.

Tamás Páll is an interdisciplinary artist from Budapest. His works interweave political narratives and underground communities with technology. In his ongoing research, he explores new forms of collective world-making, game mechanics and simulation. He is a co-founder of the artist group Hollow. They create speculative live performances and cross-reality installations that revolve around the human body, club culture and alternative communities.
His works have been showcased in The Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Residency Unlimited & ISCP in New York; Art Cologne; Radialsystem, Berlin; MeetFactory, Prague; Ludwig Museum, Budapest, Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, Budapest among others.
