Brno Art Week is a platform that organizes a unique festival dedicated to visual arts every year. For 14 years, Brno museums, galleries and schools dealing with visual arts have been jointly presenting a wide range of exhibitions and accompanying programmes. The intention of BAW is to network and share institutions, artists and supporters, and to mediate art that is an ongoing and demanding challenge for those who produce, present and teach art. The festival involves all galleries and museums involved in the visual arts in Brno, as well as independent and off-site galleries. The cooperation between galleries and art colleges is also unique.

In the case of Brno, Art Week is specific in that it is created in close cooperation with TIC BRNO as a contributory organization of Brno with a teaching department that educates art teachers, i.e. the Department of Art Education of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Masaryk University. In addition, the festival helps visitors to orient themselves in the offer of cultural institutions - it also serves as an overview of places to go for art. Art Week is an internationally expanded format, in which Brno follows the tradition that has long been in place in Vienna and other European cities; after Brno, Berlin and Prague, for example, have joined the organisation of Art Weeks.
