Galerie Fenester closed its doors in January 2015.

Fenester is becoming a new space for contemporary art, using the window of the Chapeau Rouge bar at 2 Jakubská Street. The specific space of the shop window is a stimulus for artists to create their own installations.

The selection of artists is deliberately open to diverse forms of contemporary art. We are addressing young artists focused on free and applied art, i.e. especially students or graduates of art or art-industrial schools, the selection does not forget artists dealing with events, music or performance. In addition to young or emerging artists, we would like to include established artists for confrontation.

Each exhibitor will be tasked with a specific conception of the gallery space (v1.70m x w2.90m x h0.35m) in their own free form. The installations will change at monthly intervals and several times a year there will be one-off live performances directly inside the window in the form of a performance, happening, musical or theatrical production, etc.

The use of the window as a gallery is spot on, the artworks interact directly with the public space. The location of the gallery in the very centre of the city offers the potential to present contemporary creative expressions to a really large audience.
