Fotograf Festival deals with the intersection of photography and contemporary art – as do the partner projects Fotograf Gallery and Fotograf Magazine. The main part of the festival takes place during October and usually presents a current theme through group and solo exhibitions, prepared in collaboration with invited local and international curators and Prague galleries. The exhibition programme is complemented by a series of discussions, artist talks, site-specific events, exhibitions in public space, screenings and guided tours. The Fotograf Festival is the only thematically and curatorially conceived photography festival in the Czech Republic, which aims to promote the medium of photography, its wider inclusion in contemporary art and in the awareness of the general public.

Discussions are intended for the professional public only, where invited experts present themselves to debate the current festival theme in the context of visual art. The aim of the Fotograf Festival is to build a tradition and a new platform for a photography festival that will place Prague among other important centres of photography and visual arts in Europe. The festival aims to bring contemporary photographic art closer to the public and to create a thematically focused space for the wider public and professionals from all over the world to meet.
