Fotograf Zone, originally under the name Fotograf Gallery, was established under the name Fotograf Studio at the end of 2009 as the second platform of the civic association Fotograf07. It allowed to directly and consistently stimulate activity in the field of artistic photography and to reflect its contexts and media overlaps in contemporary visual art. At the time of its creation, it was intended as a space dramaturgically linked to the content of the current issues of the magazine. However, it soon gained autonomy as a systematically run exhibition space headed by a curator.

The gallery focuses on the role of photography in the post-media situation of contemporary art, which is particularly informed by the broader field of photographic thinking, which does not necessarily materialize in the form of a photographic artifact, but as a way of looking at and grasping reality, or as a basis or means of conceptual and contextual operations in which photography is treated as a specific carrier of visual information. Its programme is dominated by solo exhibitions of Czech artists of the younger and middle generation. Each year it includes at least one exhibition by an artist of the older generation, or is supplemented by curated thematic exhibitions.

In 2010 and 2012, Edith Jeřábková was the curator of the gallery. In mid-2012, she handed over her position to Jiří Ptáček. Since 2021, the gallery's curators have been Hana Buddeus, Vojtěch Märc and Tereza Rudolf. The gallery curators are responsible for the conception of the programme, the realisation of most exhibitions and the selection of external curators. In 2017, the gallery moved from its long-term location at Školská 28 to a new address at Jungmannova 7, Prague 1. Currently, the gallery consists of two halls with a total exhibition space of 132 m². The space is also used for lectures, workshops and other events.
