Galerie Fotografic / Praha 1
Tue–Sat 1–6pm
Fotografic Gallery focuses on presenting contemporary photography, including multimedia crossovers into other artistic genres. Each year, the gallery hosts up to ten exhibitions by Czech and international artists spanning all generations. Fotografic enables both established and emerging artists to present their works in often unexpected installations, thus serving as a living laboratory for a wide variety of artistic approaches. To complement our exhibition schedule, we also regularly announce an open call, which is open to all innovative projects in the fields of photography, video art, interactive media, as well as painting and drawing.
The exhibition program also includes regular discussions and guided tours with artists, as well as themed film screenings. Fotografic is also an open cultural space, which is why we are happy to participate in various festivals and community projects, such as the Betlémská Cultural Night, Fotograf Festival, Literature Night, and the Prague Quadrennial.
The initial idea for a photography gallery and studio here dates back to June 2002. What began as just an idea gradually developed into a project involving the sensitive renovation (architect Jiří Gulbis) of an old, abandoned stable located beneath a factory chimney in the very center of Prague. In 2003, the industrial space on Stříbrná Street was completed, and since its founding, it has gradually evolved from an experimental and photographic studio into a unique gallery institution.
