Habrovka / Praha
The site was the scene of a one-off event
The HABROVKA music and theatre festival is a unique cultural project not only in Prague 4, but also in the territory of our capital city in general. The HABROVKA festival combines various genres and cultural currents, professional and amateur works. In addition to a quality cultural experience, the festival also offers a space for meetings and active cooperation between artists and the public, as well as between artists and each other.
The festival takes place in the grounds of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Prague 4 in Krč (garden and hall), just a few steps from the busy surroundings of the Budějovická metro station. During the two days of the festival, a number of musical ensembles and theatre groups will perform on three outdoor and one indoor stage. Children's performances and workshops are an integral part of the programme. The HABROVKA festival offers an alternative to the so-called mainstream cultural currents. The genre of the festival's musical production is very diverse. It presents jazz classics, blues, ethno but also folklore and underground. The theatre production consists of puppet, play and improvisational performances. The festival does not aim to become a mass event, it is necessary to maintain its sophisticated and intimate atmosphere. It should continue to give space to quality and interesting artists who often stand outside the wider public awareness and interest of the commercial sphere. The HABROVKA Festival has traditionally also introduced interesting foreign bands to the local audience.
The goals of the HABROVKA Festival are. To present a culture that breaks out of the mainstream, to give space to fringe and alternative currents and to present art across generations. To bring together multiple cultural and genre streams, with a focus on Roma culture. To open the festival to children (performances for children, art workshops). To keep admission and refreshment prices as low as possible to make the festival truly accessible to all. Give adequate space to artistic production – performances are not cut short for the purposes of the festival and do not interfere with each other.
