The Moravian Gallery in Brno is exceptional in the breadth of its scope. It is the only art museum in the Czech Republic that deals with art culture in a comprehensive way. It works with free art, i.e. painting, drawing, graphics and sculpture from the earliest period to the present, as well as with photography, applied art, graphic design and architecture. The Moravian Gallery in Brno is the second largest art museum in the Czech Republic.

 
The Moravian Gallery in Brno owns four architecturally remarkable buildings.en/moravska-galerie-v-brne-umeleckoprumyslove-muzeum/">Museum of Decorative Arts, Vice Governor's Palace and Jurkovič Villa. Together with the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), it manages the Josef Hoffmann Family House in Brtnice near Jihlava. It presents the art culture of the Czech Republic in a European context, both in permanent exhibitions and through short-term exhibitions. This effort is connected with cooperation with a number of domestic and foreign institutions and participation in international projects. On a global scale, the International Biennial of Graphic Design, held since 1963, is of the greatest importance among the activities of the Moravian Gallery in Brno.

 
Exhibitions and expositions are enriched by an accompanying programme in the form of lectures, guided tours of exhibitions, workshops, concerts and performances designed for all visitor groups. Special emphasis is placed on the children's audience, whether individual visitors or organized groups. The museum's openness is also reflected in the establishment of a collection of artworks for the blind and partially sighted and the exhibition projects linked to it.
