PASTICHE FILMZ is a civic association (founded in 2002), which in cooperation with the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies provides dramaturgy and organization of student screenings, film club operation, cultural events and activities associated with the UP Art Centre (Konvikt). Pastiche Filmz contributes to the external image of the department's professional activities and provides students with the opportunity to participate in various projects. On the one hand, Pastiche filmz functions as a classical film club (it is a registered member of the Association of Czech Film Clubs), and on the other hand as a civic association, which forms a platform for the implementation of individual sub-projects and events (profiles of foreign independent filmmakers, Echoes of Festivals, Young Creators, Czech filmz, Days of European Film, Animated Film Showcase). The association has also created a new dramaturgical platform that offers a broader spectrum of historical as well as contemporary Czech and world film production. A spectrum that is always presented in thematic units, which is how we want to achieve a comprehensive insight into the diverse contexts of cinema (historical, national) not just disconnected "screenings". Pastiche Filmz also aims to engage the viewer in the discourse and to arouse his/her interest in the issue or phenomenon at hand. We present the diversity of world and domestic film production both in the traditional film club (membership in the AČFK, cooperation with most distribution companies in the Czech Republic) and in the form of special projects and film shows. Here, there is a more significant connection and cooperation with foreign cultural centres in particular, as well as the presentation of filmmakers and works that are produced outside the scope of regular distribution. For a more comprehensive overview of the broad spectrum of cinema, we organise narrowly focused (thematic) film shows of foreign independent filmmakers. We have also introduced a neglected tradition in Olomouc called Echoes, i.e. the presentation of several films as a legacy of one of the past Czech (Slovak) film festivals (Seminar of British Film, Seminar of Archive Film, IDFF Jihlava, Days of European Film). Support for student activities One of the aims is also to support the students themselves and provide space for their own creativity, both in the form of facilities and the subsequent presentation of their work (performances, exhibitions, screenings). The whole organisation is based on a volunteer basis – this fact should guarantee the personal and unconditional interest of the people involved in supporting cultural activities and the very existence of the association. All the funds raised will therefore be invested in the intensive development of the association and its activities. For each screening, we publish, at our own expense, an infomaterial in which author's studies and essays are printed, mostly by students with a film preference (film studies students). The accompanying materials of the film shows are also of a wider scope and similar nature.
