The Rýmařov City Museum was founded in 1901 by local businessman and town representative Wilhelm Ludwig. The basis of the collection of the Municipal Museum Rýmařov (MMR) is the results of geological and archaeological research, collections and generous donations from the town's citizens. Currently, the museum offers a number of interesting exhibitions about the Rýmařov region: the history of the region from prehistoric times to the 19th century, textile industry, metal mining, geology of southern Jesenik.

The museum also includes the Gallery Octopus, which was established in 1991. The gallery is run jointly by the MMR and the Octopus Society, which brings together artists and supporters of culture in Rymarov. Every year it organizes 6 art exhibitions. Not only emerging or regional artists were represented, but also those who have already had their permanent place in important Czech and international collections (Čapek, Reynek, Zoubek, Štreit, Karlíková, the Válovy sisters, Gebauer and others).
