The Artist Has a Prize activity was created in 2007 out of the need to highlight who is an authority and who has the respect of the younger generation.

After Jiří Kovand, Vladimír Skrepl, Adriena Šimotová, the artistic duo Lukáš Jasanský and Martin Polák, Václav Stratil, Dalibor Chatrný, Vladimír Kokoli, Martin Zet, Karel Malich, Vladimír Havlík, Jiří Surůvka, Anna Daučíková and Zbyněk Baladrán, the guarantor of the award is Barbora Klímová.

The award is presented as a gesture of the younger generation of artists and theorists towards the generation of older artists. In particular, it is a recognition that is conveyed to a selected artist, whose choice is made by more than 500 people from all over the Czech Republic who are under 35 at the time of voting and nominate two artists over 35. From the sum of the votes received, a group of five to seven finalists is created. In the second stage, a different jury selects the laureate each year. The age of the "nominators" is chosen intuitively; the nature of the prize is determined by the meeting of the annually renewed jury with the finalists in their studios.
