VVP AVU is a centre for basic scientific research, source documentation, critical evaluation and reinterpretation of Czech visual art after 1945 until the present day, with a focus on interdisciplinary overlaps.


The aim of the VVP AVU is to contribute not only to the development of knowledge of the local development of art history, but also to its introduction into a broader international context. Currently, research on the transformation period 1980-2005 is being conducted here. A documentation centre with an archive of textual and visual material is being continuously established at the VVP AVU. The bibliobase, a database of bibliographic data on Czech art, and the i-datum project, a database of contemporary art, are accessible online.
