The Space for Presentation of Young Artists was created in 1967 at the instigation of art theorist Igor Zhora as a space for the presentation of young artists. It has historically provided a background for self-realization for all untested and experimental artists. Currently, it is the oldest of the exhibition spaces of the city's contributory organisation TIC BRNO, which operate under the umbrella name TIC Gallery. For more than fifty years, the Gallery of the Young has been continuously presenting authors of the youngest artistic generation, mostly students and recent graduates of art schools. It provides not only a spatial and installation background, but also and above all a place for sharing and collaboration.
The dramatic intention of Young Gallery is to map the emerging artistic generation while maintaining a pluralistic view of visual art with a range of ideological positions and expressions. The Young Gallery hosts approximately eight exhibitions per year, which are selected through an annual open call. The applications are judged by a so-called gallery board consisting of in-house curators and selected experts from the art scene. The deadline for submitting exhibition projects is regularly during July, with the results published in August or September.
