The lecture examines the present state of exhibition making in the currently dominating paradigm of documentarism. The lecture tries to collect contemporary artistic positions from the region which try to tackle theoretical, but also spatial and time-spirals of didacticism, self-referentiality and documentarism. The lecture is also a step towards a new interpretation of the phenomenon of locality, which can be differenciated from provinciality, by it’s relation towards history and by the tool kit of irony. The featured artistic highlights of the lecture are inspired by the exhibition programme of Trafó Gallery, where the lecturer is an active curator. And during the presentation some actual tendencies of contemporary hungarian art and institutionalism may also be drawn out.
