The mystical experience of transcending the “self,” understood as personal patterns of experience, is a moment of self-knowledge and healing.

Yet it is also a moment of uncertainty, searching, and a potential fall into the abyss. Insistent pairs of eyes are omnipresent, as legacies of familial patterns and states of anxiety and melancholy. Their gaze is blurred by psychosis, which may also serve as an initial moment of release and restructuring. Physical and mental sensation becomes hazy, spreading like ripples across water, and turns into a lived experience pulsating through human, animal, manufactured, and immaterial bodies.
