Join us on a tour from the former monastery, past the graves of literary figures, to the UH-1 mass grave. We’ll visit the final resting places of Ostrava’s writers—both men and women—reflect on their lives, and read excerpts from their works. Your guides will be librarian and poet Petr Ligocký, literary historian Iva Málková, and researcher Stanislav Grym.

At each stop, Ostrava authors Joa Ferfecki, Michal Grac, Jan Dvořák, Filip Hrazdil, Petr Szyroki and Marek Pietoň.

The final stop will be at the UH-1 mass grave, beneath which the urns containing the ashes of Miloš Morávek, Miroslav Sýkora, Josef Polomský, and Ladislav Cée—who were executed in August 1951 following a fabricated Communist trial. Researcher Stanislav Grym and Ladislav Cée’s son will speak about the recent discovery of the site. We will commemorate the fates of these executed men, who were fully rehabilitated after the fall of the communist regime.

The walk will include the launch of new fold-out maps of the Silesian-Ostrava Cemetery, which now also feature the UH-1 grave and the names of those executed, as well as the launch of the new issue of the Krásná Ostrava newsletter.

We are organizing this walk in cooperation with the Ostrava City Library.

We’ll meet at the Slezská Ostrava – kostel trolleybus stop.
