During his lecture on 2nd November 2011 at the Mount Holyoke College,  the British sociologist Guy Standing invited present students to undertake research of tertiary time. By this term Standing means a new conception of time that becomes established as a result of social and economic changes in the last quarter century.  He believes that global population do not experience time in exactly defined blocs, such as eight-hours work, eight hours of leisure activities and eight hours of sleep. They experience work, leisure and sleep differently, but nobody knows exactly how. Jiří Skála and Tomáš Uhnák decided to respond to Standing’s call and shall undertake a research in which they will try to determine the validity of tertiary time theory, what are its characteristic features if valid, and what is the relevance and role of time in society.
