Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the politics and society of a controversial country that has been causing headaches and problems for numerous governments for half a century, facing sanctions and wars, yet still standing firm in its approach to the outside world.
How do ordinary Iranians live, what are the Iranian leadership’s priorities, and what does this mean for us? We’ll discuss all of this with Břetislav Tureček, who has been traveling to Iran for thirty years and has written about the country in his books and academic work.
Břetislav Tureček (*1970) has been studying the Middle East as a journalist and university professor since his college days. He has written five books on the region, served as a correspondent for Czech Radio in Jerusalem for five years, continues to appear in leading Czech media outlets, and teaches at Metropolitan University Prague.
Presented by historian Vojtěch Vlček.
