Fiducia is now the Ostrava screening venue for KineDoku, an international project that brings high-quality independent documentaries outside of traditional movie theaters—to galleries, clubs, and other venues where the films can spark group discussions.
The first film we will screen as part of this collaboration is the documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin (2025, directed by David Borenstein and Pavel Talankin).
How does Russian war propaganda find its way into classrooms and transform everyday life? Pavel Talankin worked as a teacher and organizer of school events in the small industrial town of Karabash in the Urals. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, he started filming how his school was gradually turning into a tool of state propaganda. Children participate in patriotic ceremonies, teachers are given new assignments, and the space for free thought continues to shrink. Talankin secretly preserved his footage and eventually managed to get it out of Russia.
The documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin is an extraordinary testimony to how an authoritarian regime interferes in the lives of ordinary people and how difficult it is to resist it. The powerful personal story of an unassuming teacher shows the war from a perspective we rarely see in mainstream news coverage.
