Jan Matýsek: Choreography of the match

The Choreography of the match project is a study of the body phenomena. The male body. Belonging to a distant hero and idol, in the contradiction of a real, tangible body which strive to fulfill the ideals. The virtual body moves in front of the green, fast-moving background following the marked trajectory. They dance with the precision of well-thought gestures that "defend the post." Is the body of a professional athlete, football player, real? Isn´t it just a digital information on a television screen, a pixel, a bacterium vibrating around a huge stadium?

Jan Matýsek sees the (male) football as a masculine initiation, while the peak of the transient ritual lays in the moment of the excavation at the gate. Breath holding, concentration, tension, filling and relaxation. Transcendence. Time stops, everything melts into an unreadable image - you get closer - the sweat leaks through the screen.
