The exhibition The Edge of Reality presents a collection of paintings by Dominik Forman, which combine direct experience with reality and its internal shift of meaning. It follows the two main vectors of the artist's long-term interest - capturing the atmosphere of specific places and a metaphysical orientation towards symbolic landscapes.

The artist works both with plein-air painting of landscapes and urban motifs (many of them feature landmarks and corners of Prague 2) and with paintings that transcend reality towards a philosophical dimension. The seen place does not become a mere visual record, but a situation of subjective experience. Perspective, light and composition carry tension and suggest the mutability of reality. Forman has long captured the processes of change in the urban landscape, disappearing places, transformations and reconstructions. His work is based on a thorough study of art history and cultural development. For him, painting is a dialogue with tradition and the present. The "edge of reality" marks the border between the seen and the imagined - the place where the landscape turns into an idea and the image raises questions.

Dominik Forman (*1989) is a Czech painter. He studied teaching for secondary schools at the Faculty of Education, Charles University (major in Czech-VV) and painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. In his work, he deals with various positions of figurative painting - from genre forms such as plein air, portrait or still life, to the metaphysical dimension of the painting. He has long been exploring the possibilities of realistic painting in the context of contemporary art. He has presented his work at numerous exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad, including the Jakarta Biennial and the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy. He lives and works in Prague.
