Entangled scenes from an interspace. Some things we recognise, some seem familiar, but appearances can be deceiving. Who are you?

From horror-like swamps, from within the very structure of the painting, plants of fantastic shapes emerge — new and unexpected protagonists. Born in the sanctuary of the studio, this Symbolist, fairy-tale world is full of surprises. Eva Maceková is, at the very least, a three-in-one being: she draws, illustrates, prints, knits, and in recent years has devoted herself to oil painting.

Eva Maceková (*1984, Martin, Slovakia) studied in the Studio of Textile Design and the Studio of Illustration and Graphics at UMPRUM in Prague. She currently lives and works in Prague. Her work has been exhibited at venues including DOX, Villa Pellé, Trafo Gallery, Karpuchina Gallery, Halle Saint Pierre in Paris, and Pekelné sáně in Kroměříž. She also works as a book illustrator and has received several awards for her illustrations.
