František Mucha is an artist – he likes that word because he really creates things and situations. A graduate of the Intermedia studio at the Faculty of Arts in Ostrava, he is a performer, mason, painter, gardener, sculptor, glass blower, beekeeper, forest worker, museum exhibitor, glass cutter, but above all a wanderer and a seeker. In his work, whatever medium he works in, there are references to the various adventures he has had He soaks up inspiration in the glassworks of master glassblowers and cutters, in bars, wandering, going wild and exploring different ways of living. These adventures then contrast with the moments of calm he finds in the forests and rocks of Wallachia, where he is at home.

He would not be František if his path were simple and straightforward. His path to glass, which he first had a little taste of in high school, was interrupted by his entry to the Faculty of Arts, which greatly spiced up his not only artistic perception. He returned to glass immediately after graduating in Ostrava, when he started an apprenticeship as a hollow glass blower. However, he soon discovered that glassmaking was a very difficult trade to make a living in - the harsh operation of the glassworks was not compatible with his desire to create freely. So he took a different path and started working in a museum. At the time of the pandemic, he closed himself in a depository with photo documentation of the extensive glassmaking history in Wallachia, which he later drew on in his work. At that time he also settled in Vsetín and set up his own cutting workshop, where he quietly devoted himself to self-study of glass decoration by cutting. In his studio with ball-bearing machines, he found a space where he could work on his art objects in the silence of the machines in an artisanal way.

He now transfers his experiences, feelings and stories by grinding into glass vessels. She does not sand on the surface, but goes into the glass mass with her tools to create relief. His glass work shows a deep fascination with the material and the craft of glass techniques, but also a sense of being a free artist creating his vision. This has led him back to the gallery space and after more than six years to exhibit his work, which has absolutely changed in material, but the themes remain as pure and wild.
