Wow, you haven’t aged a bit!
Attempting that effortless, sunkissed glow.
A durable product, withstanding the test of time.
You are what you eat, you know.
Fabulous, making me last from day to night to tomorrow to 2020.
Bára’s and Kristín’s work is subverting the commercial aspects of our daily life, the product, the food, the goodies. it confronts ideas like raw, farm and bio, unveiling the colonialistic politics behind these commercial strategies. At the same time Their work is considering the xeno- life of object from the views close to object oriented ontology, with focus on the voice of single artificial/natural objects, translated to human like narratives.
Goodie Goodie Goodie Bags opens at 18:00, 10th of January in IDEAL.
Using a mixture of video, installation, performance, photographs and sound, Kristín Helga Ríkharðsdóttir explores her surroundings and works with society as an insider, a full participant and player. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2016. Among past exhibitions are Pressure of the Depth at the Living Art Museum (2018), After Sun held in at7 in Amsterdam (2018), RAFLOST: Electronic Arts Festival (2018). Kristín’s films have been shown at international film/video festivals, winning “Best Experimental Short” awards at the Oaxaca FilmFest 2017 and the West Virginia Mountaineer Festival 2017.
Bára Bjarnadóttir is a multidisciplinary artist whose work oscillates between installation and performance. Her work sprouts from long processes of research, trial and error. Bára received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2017. Recent projects include “There’s Plenty of Time in 24/7” a solo exhibition in Harbinger, Reykjavík, “But We Have So Much in Common” a performance in a Laugardalur Laundromat with Vala Sigþrúðar Jónsdóttir and “We’ve All Been There” an exhibition alongside Sophie Bates in At7, Amsterdam.
Kristín and Bára’s collaboration began in 2017, during the christmas market haze of early December. In search of a way to translate their art into friendly market-booth material, they came up with the idea of the Foodless Foodmarket: a familiar looking salesbooth containing non-edible food art for sale. From there came the idea of Radio Sandwich, a site specific medium made strictly for audio works by visual artists. In light of the Foodless Foodmarket’s playful, collaborative spirit the works for the first episode were food-themed and created by participating artists of the market. The Foodless Foodmarket and Radio Sandwich EP.1 took place at the Living Art Museum’s Christmas Pudding, December 21st.

Just over a year later Radio Sandwich emerges for it’s next episode with brand new materialist connotations: Goodie Goodie Goodie Bags. The artist contributing audio to the goodie themed episode is Marek Mardosewicz, DUOKS (Marek Mardosewicz / Łukasz Markiewicz) is an artist duo that focuses mainly on camera performances, videoarts and conceptual music poetry.
An artist talk with Bára and Kristín will be held in IDEAL on the Saturday 12.1.2019 at 18:00.
