It can be said about exhibitions and Hana Puchová's paintings themselves that they usually do not surprise us with anything, but always delight us. This is due to the fact that the artist has been developing and branching out her two main cycles of paintings for many years. These are both figurative works depicting her acquaintances and friends, often well-known personalities of the Ostrava cultural scene. And then there are small and larger still lifes, mostly dominated by flowers and other details of everyday life. Both of these lines are based on traditional painting, lyrical and raw at the same time, with subtle stylization. They are based on the ordinary, the mundane, on what and who the painter lives among. In this exhibition, the long-running series of figurative paintings is replaced by a newly emerging series in which the painter depicts various places and spaces where she often stays. The entire exhibition is named after it. The exhibition is then complemented by her charming still lifes with flowers and small objects.

Hana Puchová (*1966) studied at the University of Applied Arts under Jiří Šalamoun from 1991-1997. She currently lives and works in Ostrava. She has been active on the art scene for thirty years and increasingly appears as an interesting artist with a distinctive handwriting. She is strongly associated with Ostrava, but in recent years she has been one of the few painters who has managed to overcome the barriers of the region and has been accepted at the national level. Her Ostrava, however, certainly does not forget her, as proven by the large retrospective at the House of Arts in 2017 and the published monograph.
