We cordially invite you to the opening of a new July exhibition titled Don’t Sweep Up the Shards by artist Jantra Šímová at SI in Rybárna.

Jantra will present a series of ceramic reliefs and tiles here, created continuously since last spring in different locations, under various conditions, and in different moods. This fragmented nature makes them a diverse series that, much like drawing in a sketchbook or jotting down thoughts in a diary, aims to capture some unspoken feeling. An indefinable mystery that we can only piece together with the benefit of hindsight. And since ceramics and the process of making them are as fragile as life itself, the works convey not only a sense of playfulness and charm but also the anxiety of today’s world.

Jantra Šímová earned her master’s degree from the Studio of Illustration and Graphic Design at UMPRUM. In addition to illustrations, graphic art, and creating her own books, she paints, curates exhibitions, works with ceramics, and knits. She leads art workshops and is interested in projects with social and community impact. She is a member of the Knedlík collective, works for the Ramus platform, and has completed art residencies in Marseille, Georgia, and Mexico.
